Code of Conduct Form was signed when the players filled out their recertification form. Please take the time to go over the academic policies and drug and alcohol conduct. As far as the academics are concerned, we take this very seriously. Our own program has high standards in the classroom for progress and behavior. Your son is expected to be a role model and if they come to us with a run-a-round sheet that has some behavior issues from teachers, it can impact their playing time. The drug and alcohol Code of Conduct is taken very seriously as well. We can’t Police the kids 24/7 and your support is really needed, even in the off-season. Kids are going to parties out of season and alcohol is at the parties. Digital cameras and phones are being used and the kids are being held accountable if in the presence of alcohol and drugs and being suspended even if not in season.

Parent Support. The coaching staff really needs your support when it comes to your son being successful. Kids perform their best if they are confident and relaxed. We have kids that are playing in difficult roles on their respective teams and sometimes it is hard for them to come in and perform in stressful situations and play mistake free. That role might be to come in and play good defense, rebound, hustle for loose balls, and not do anything your skill level isn’t capable of. That can be a huge lift. Sometimes players and parents have a difficult time adjusting to limited playing time or not at all. Your son has been informed of his current role on the team and has accepted it. He may not like it, is working hard to change it, and is a member of a team. His role can change from game to game. We constantly reevaluate their role and want to play as many kids as we can, but it not always a reality. We all want to win and win doing things the right way, and have a great experience and that means that the best players are going to play more. If he plays poorly, remind him that he played hard and maybe we won, and that is most important. Bottom line is we need your support. If your son is frustrated, support the coaching staff. Encourage them to talk to their coaches and see if there is something they can do to help. Encourage them to put extra time in, find a way to be a great teammate, and learn from the position they are in. We are building character, humility, communication skills, role playing, and many other important life skills. Remind them of that. Your support is will only help your son perform better and our team be more successful. The door is always open to discuss concerns about your son, but we won’t discuss playing time. We see him everyday in practice and know what their capabilities are. Please don’t corner us after a game. We are all emotional at that point and it would be wiser to drop us an email or call and set up a meeting. We all want what best for your son. The email can even be a “Hey Joey is frustrated. Can you grab him and talk to him after practice?” We’d be happy to. You can also tell us good things too. We like to get those emails or calls.

Practice Times and Schedule. Plan on picking your son up atleast 20 minutes after practice to allow for showers and quick meetings. Showers are big in preventing colds spreading and this MSR infection. Players are expected to ride the bus home, unless there is an unusual circumstance like SAT testing in the morning, etc.
